Mark Hutchinson is the founder of Kinetic ERM, a risk management consulting and advisory firm built to help credit unions, community banks, and growing financial institutions build practical, examiner-ready risk management programs.
Mark brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise risk management, internal audit, fraud prevention, BSA/AML, compliance, third-party risk, business continuity, and operational leadership. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management and Internal Audit at a large credit union, where he led risk, audit, fraud, BSA/AML, third-party risk, business continuity, compliance, and regulatory relations across the organization.
Throughout his career, Mark has built and led risk functions inside real financial institutions — not just advised from the outside. He established a COSO-based ERM framework from the ground up, including enterprise risk assessment, risk and control self-assessments, risk quantification, issue management, and board-level reporting. He also helped shift fraud strategy from detection to prevention, reducing fraud losses by nearly 50% and preventing approximately 80% of potential fraud losses.

Mark holds an MBA from the University of Scranton and a BS in Economic Crime Investigation from Syracuse University at Utica College. He is a Certified Internal Auditor and NAFCU Certified Bank Secrecy Officer.
